KUCHING, Oct 3: There was a total of 58 oral and 58 poster presentations during the AsiaFlux 2022 conference.
Organised by Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute, the conference hosted 250 scientists with different areas of expertise from various parts of the world.
According to a statement, International Peatland Society (IPS) president Marko Pomerants said it was a good opportunity to see the excellent work of long-term IPS Executive Board member Dr Lulie Melling who is researching tropical peatlands in Malaysia.
Themed ‘The Nexus of Land Use Chang, Ecosystems and Climate: A Path toward Sustainable Development Goals’, AsiaFlux 2022 was held from Sept 20 until 22, with the participation of more than 250 delegates from Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Canada, Estonia, Germany, Hong Kong, Mongolia, China and the United States of America.
AsiaFlux was established in 1999 as the Asian arm of FLUXNET, the worldwide flux network, to develop collaborative research and data sets concerning the cycles of carbon and water in key ecosystems in Asia, to organise workshops and training on current and related global change themes, and to train the next generation of scientists to become informed leaders with varied skills and perspectives.
