KUCHING, Aug 29: Plaza Merdeka is calling members of the public to join them in celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, the second biggest celebration on the Chinese Lunar Calendar.
According to a press statement, it will complement the Carpenter Street Mid-Autumn Festival from September 22 to October 1.
“Together with the Kuching Suriamas Dance and Music Fans Association and the Kuching Association of Talent Development and Welfare of Special Needs (KATSN), various exciting events are lined up for this year’s celebration,” it said.
Among the events will be an art exhibition featuring works by more than ten amazing and talented artists from KATSN.
“The artworks are limited, and we encourage everyone to grab your copy at the exhibition area. Your presence at this celebration will encourage support, boost self-esteem, and promote self-reliance to the artists.”
It added that there will also be a children’s colouring contest on September 24, and those whose children are interested in participating in it may contact John at 012 880 6560 or Madam Pung at 012 886 5396.
There will also be live performances and other contests, such as a cheongsam contest, a karaoke contest, a lantern contest, and a mooncake-making contest with attractive prizes for the winners.
There will also be limited stalls selling lanterns, toys, mooncakes, balloons, ice cream, and crafts.
Interested parties may call Plaza Merdeka Shopping Centre at 082 237526 ext. 225 for more details.
“Let’s celebrate and immerse in the Mid-Autumn Festival to bring everyone closer together for a joyous and united Kuching.”
