KUCHING, Jan 29: Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim has recently received a congratulatory message from the President of the United States (US), Joe Biden, complimenting the inspiring democracy demonstrated in Malaysia’s 15th General Election (GE15).

Anwar shared this on social media on Friday (Jan 27) along with the official letter from The White House, dated Jan 24, 2023.

“I received a congratulatory message from US President Joe Biden, who commended Malaysia’s inspiring democracy in the recent (15th) general election.

“He (Biden) expressed commitment to deepen relations with Malaysia, including in the areas of the digital economy, climate crisis, and energy security.

“I look forward to working closely with him (Biden) for the mutual benefits of our people,” said Anwar in his social post.

In the letter to Anwar from The White House, one of the paragraphs wrote: “As democracies around the world face unprecedented challenges, your election demonstrated that democracies can deliver.

“Millions of Malaysians stepped up and made their voices heard — casting their ballots in the general election, many for the first time.

“Civic engagement is the cornerstone of free and open societies, and the Malaysian people inspired people around the world with their commitment to exercising their fundamental freedoms.” — DayakDaily
