KUCHING, Jan 25: Another road in Belaga collapsed this morning due to a landslide, according to reports by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
At 10.31am this morning, the Sarawak Bomba received a call about a landslide along Jalan Jiwa Murni, 23 kilometres from Belaga town and two kilometres from the junction to Uma Kejaman Lasah, Long Segaham.
Upon arrival at the scene, they found that a section of the road, which connects Belaga town to Bintulu, had completely collapsed.
“Members of the public had to clear a path along the side of the collapsed road to allow vehicles to pass.
“The Belaga District Office Public Works Department (JKR) was also at the location, and have informed that they would try to create alternative routes as soon as possible after conducting several assessments of the landslide situation.
“The Fire Department will also report the incident to the Belaga District Disaster Committee for further action,” it said.
After ensuring the collapsed section of the road was cordoned off and the situation was under control, the Belaga Bomba team returned to the station. – DayakDaily
