Anglican church prepared to mark Holy Week celebrations through live-streamings

KUCHING, Mar 26: The Anglican Church of Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam will be holding special arrangements for Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter following the extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

In saying this, the Bishop of Kuching (Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam) Rt Reverend Datuk Danald Jute noted that church services will continue to be suspended until further notice.

He said that this difficult decision has to be made although Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter, are the biggest celebrations where Christians will usually make every effort to be at Church.

“Sadly, with the MCO in place, we will not be able to have any celebrations and services and gatherings in Church on the important festivals.

“Instead, we will make special arrangements to mark Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, and offer Online Worship Services and Live-streamings, so that church members can join in and pray together,” he said in a statement today.

He noted that the Online Worship Services and Live-streamings will continue on for as long as is necessary.

“We want to encourage Christians to stay and also pray at home,” he added.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced a 14-day extension of the MCO following the sharp increase in Covid-19 cases recorded in the country.

He also urged the public to be mentally and physically prepared to stay at home for a reasonably longer period of time. —DayakDaily.
