KUCHING, Nov 26: The opposition MPs supported the budget in Parliament showed that they fear the wrath of the rakyat, opined University of Malaya pollical analyst Associate Professor Dr Awang Azman Awang Pawi.

He added that the opposition’s lack of cohesiveness and unity also play a part in their support of the Budget 2021.

“Many opposition MPs choose not to oppose or stand for a split vote because they expect 13 MPs would be sufficient to be accepted by the speaker for a split vote.

“Secondly, there are also doubts because they are worried about the perception of the people that if they oppose the Bill it would mean that they are against their welfare,” Awang Azman told DayakDaily here today.

He observed that here the opposition was seen to be not united and lacked strategy.

“At the same time, there are parties in the Pakatan Harapan who have their own views and agendas. Thus, they fail to coordinate and are seen to be suspicious of each other.

“At the same time Perikatan Nasional government uses 1001 strategies to ensure that the Budget 2021 could be easily passed,” he said.
