Ambush snags four for suspected drug trafficking

MIRI, June 9: Three women and a man have been detained by Miri Narcotics Crime Investigation Division on Sunday afternoon on suspicion of drug trafficking.

The four suspects were nabbed during an ambush operation held at a house at Jalan Piasau Utara 2D.

According to Miri city police chief, ACP Lim Meng Seah, all suspects, aged 17, 26, 33 and 34 respectively are locals.

“They were nabbed during an operation held at 1.30pm today following a tip-off,” he said when contacted.

During the raid, police also seized illegal substances believed to be methamphetamine, concealed inside 20 small packets weighing 10.60g with a street value of RM1,900.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Preliminary investigations revealed that two out of the four suspects arrested have previous records of drug related offences.

“We discovered that the two have records in drug related offences, being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” Lim said.

All the suspects are currently being detained for questioning. — DayakDaily
