KUCHING, July 5: Amanah Saham Sarawak (ASSAR) today announced a dividend distribution of 6.0 cent per unit for its financial year ending June 30, 2024.
Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this came exactly six months after the interim dividend of 2.5 cent per unit, was announced on Jan 5, 2024.
āGiven the increasingly satisfactory performance of ASSAR, I am pleased to once again announce the distribution of ASSARās dividend, which is a final/additional dividend of 3.5 cent per unit.
āThe second distribution for the financial year ending June 30, 2024 will involve a total payment of RM16.39 million to 57,542 investors, calculated based on their outstanding unit holdings as at June 30, 2024.
āThis makes ASSARās total dividend return for the financial year ending June 30, 2024 amount to 6.0 cent per unit, with a total distribution of RM28.1 million compared to net income of RM36.16 million,ā he revealed at the press conference to announce the ASSAR annual interim dividend at Hikmah Exchange here today.
Abang Johari further said surplus income of RM8.06 million will be kept as a reserve for the next financial year.
He also emphasised that ASSAR is a safe and low-risk investment or savings instrument with a minimum price guarantee mechanism of RM1.00 per unit, which has been the main feature of ASSAR since 1998.
āThe minimum price guarantee mechanism will continue to play a role in reducing any impact of the economic recession as well as the severe fall of the stock market on the capital of ASSAR investors.
āThis is because the feature allows ASSAR units to be resold at a minimum price of RM1.00 per unit during the warranty period, in any economic/stock market situation, and thus protects ASSAR investors from experiencing large losses on their capital,ā he added.
Also present during the press conference were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Amanah Saham Sarawak Berhadās (ASSB) Board chairman Dato Sri Wahab Dolah, and Sarawak Attorney-General and ASSB Board of Director member Datu Saferi Ali. ā DayakDaily
