KUCHING, Aug 9: The people of Samarahan will never forget the contributions made by Dato Peter Minos while he was the chairman of the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) for over a decade, says Datuk Idris Buang.
“He helped and did his best to all, regardless of race and religious backgrounds, and this must be appreciated and lauded.
“The people of Samarahan will always remember him,” said Idris, who is Muara Tuang assemblyman and Deputy Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS).
He said this during an appreciation dinner for Minos and new and former councillors of Samarahan and Siburan recently.
At the same time, Idris also said that it was exemplary for Minos to agree to share his experience with Serian, which has excellent potential in eco-tourism and rural development.
In response, Minos said that he was just doing his job to the best of his ability, and that he was reciprocating the friendship and cooperation shown to him by the community in Samarahan.
“The same to those in the private sector, without which there would be little progress to Samarahan,” he said, adding that this attitude has always been people- and business-friendly.
Minos now helms the Serian District Council (MDS) as its chairman. — DayakDaily
