KUCHING, Feb 8: George Lam, a special assistant to Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii, stresses that the alternative road link to Taman Desa Wira Lorong 3, is a flaw and would not help ease the traffic congestion experienced by road users.

He pointed out that the traffic flow in the vicinity has worsened, due to the four traffic flows which confluence at that point, which is the main road at Taman Desa Wira.

“For your information the new road (link) was built by the developer of Pine Square. In fact the road users were suggested by the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) leader, to use as an alternative road link to Taman Desa Wira, Lorong 3 in order to skip the jam at Jalan Batu Kawah,” he explained.

“This alternative does not solve the traffic jam problem here in Batu Kawah, specifically for the people who want to go back to their home in Desa Wira,” he lamented.

According to Lam, Deputy Sarawak Premier Dr Sim Kui Hian had asked the Sarawak government to come out with an allocation of RM10-15 million to ease the traffic jam problem here in Batu Kawah.

“It is hoped that the Sarawak government could use the extra revenue to ease the traffic jam problem here in Batu Kawah, and not to embark on non-beneficial infrastructure,” he said. — DayakDaily
