KUCHING, April 16: Alta Moda Sarawak (AMS) feels honoured to be recognised by the Sarawak government for successfully organising the inaugural fashion and lifestyle event ‘Alta Moda Sarawak 2019’ at the old State Legislative Assembly building on March 7–9.
Its operations director, Aaron G Von Jolly, said with the recognition and in conjunction with the Visit Sarawak Year Campaign, they were ready to be official fashion authority for the state as a whole.
He said among the many plans under their sleeves is to attract the attention of those in the fashion industry and tourists alike to the state. The main idea is to promote the entrepreneurship of the fashion scene in Sarawak.
“I think it is also high time that the diversity of the cottage industry of Sarawak be lifted to the next level, particularly in the House of Von Jolly Couture (fashion house). We definitely see many potentials on how we are able to spearhead this good cause with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Welfare, Community Well-Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development,” he told a press conference on AMS’ plans here today.
Aaron added that in conjunction with Malaysia Day, they would have another showcase in promoting the empowerment of women with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade).
He opined that it was high time for those Sarawakians who had created a name for themselves elsewhere to return to help develop the local community with their expertise.
For AMS, Aaron said it was not just for fashion event but served as a roof for local artisans and designers to showcase their talents so that everybody could explore the core of the industry (arts, crafts and culture) with the ultimatum aim of transforming Sarawak into a fashion hub for Borneo and South East Asia.
Meanwhile, its managing director, Dato Raymond Valentine Jolly, said AMS would give women the platform to work together and prosper in the fashion industry. — DayakDaily
