Alleged house break-in suspects nabbed at PTA meeting in Miri

MIRI, June 22: Police arrested a couple during a parent-teacher association (PTA) meeting this morning in connection with a house break-in case that happened at Piasau Phase 3.

The theft reportedly happened on June 9 when the house owner was away for the Hari Raya celebration. It is understood that some RM10,000 worth of valuables were stolen from the house.


According to sources, the couple, aged 20 and 40, were detained during the PTA meeting of a secondary school in Tanjong at about 11.15am. In addition, Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel found several items, believed stolen, inside the couple’s vehicle.

The duo was then taken to Miri Central police station (CPS) for questioning. The offence is framed under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house break-in. — DayakDaily
