KUCHING, Oct 14: All schools and educational institutions under the purview of the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) in Sarawak will operate as usual tomorrow.

According to a TVS news report, the Sarawak Education Department (JPNS) said in a statement that it would provide updates should there be any changes to the operational status of schools.

“However, schools in areas where the Air Pollutant Index (API) exceeds 100 must suspend all outdoor activities involving pupils and students.

“Students attending school are also encouraged to wear face masks as a health precaution amid the haze that continues to affect several areas in Sarawak,” the statement was reported as saying.

Parents and guardians may also choose not to send their children to school if they are concerned that the haze could affect their health, provided they inform the school.

JPNS stressed that the health, safety and well-being of all members of the education community remain its top priority. – DayakDaily
