KUCHING, Aug 24: All airline workers entering Sarawak must have a negative Covid-19 rt-PCR test result and have completed full vaccination, effective today.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said among the documents required to be submitted are the digital certificate of completed vaccination, General Declaration, a copy of identity card or passport, and police permit.

“However, it is noted that commercial airlines and cargo workers entering Sarawak must be crew on duty and are allowed entry only for a maximum period of three days and two nights (3D2N).

“Airline workers who are undertaking training or exams, rotation or coming from outside Malaysia on the other hand, are allowed to enter Sarawak for more than three days,” it said in the EnterSarawak Guidelines document updated on Aug 24, 2021.

For rotation workers, SDMC said they must take a rt-PCR test every seven days and they are released only after their swab tests taken upon arrival are negative for Covid-19.

This order is only applicable to Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel, oil and gas (O&G) workers, flying doctors and members of uniformed bodies on two-week rotation schedules.

For those arriving from outside Malaysia, they are subjected to a 14-day quarantine and upon entry, they must provide a letter of invitation from the company and a work permit alongside a negative rt-PCR test and proof of completion of full vaccination.

The statement also noted that the workers’ respective companies are to cover costs of quarantine and rt-PCR tests. ā€” DayakDaily
