KUCHING, June 27: All 260 staff members of Plaza Merdeka Shopping Mall and the Waterfront Hotel have received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose at the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre here today.

The management of the two establishments said it was “a fruitful Sunday full of inoculations” as the mall and hotel employees were able to complete their first doses in only one day.

“We are grateful for the assistance rendered by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for making this possible.

“This is part of their effort to get the tourism industry frontliners vaccinated as soon as possible and is a significant contribution to the Sarawak government’s goal to achieve herd immunity by August,” it said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, the management said the company has absorbed all appointment costs of today’s vaccination under the Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV) ProtectHealth programme for their employees.

Focused on getting their staff members inoculated since the rollout of the vaccination plan, it said it is the company’s corporate social responsibility to contribute and support the State’s vaccination drive.

“We are fortunate in Sarawak to have a government that continues to work hard for the betterment of all of us.

“Plaza Merdeka and The Waterfront Hotel would like to also express our thanks to the Timberland Medical Centre, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak, Sarawak Tourism Federation, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) as well as all our frontliners and volunteers for making this vaccination drive possible,” it added. — DayakDaily
