KUCHING, Nov 30: Sarawak has no reason to fall short of the targets outlined in the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) by the year 2030.

In a news report by TVS, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian called on all stakeholders to work harder and tirelessly to realide Sarawak’s vision of becoming a developed region by 2030.

He highlighted that 2025 will mark the halfway point to 2030, underscoring the need for everyone, including himself, to align efforts and plans to ensure Sarawak undergoes a remarkable transformation into a more advanced region by then.

“Sarawak will be different by 2030. If not, it means we have failed. There is no reason why we cannot become a better Sarawak by 2030 compared to 2024.

“If we don’t push harder and faster, we cannot overcome the challenges. By 2025, which is the midpoint to 2030, everything that needs alignment must be aligned—by you, me, and all of us—because by 2030, we want Sarawak to be more advanced and remarkable than it is today,” he said.

Dr Sim was speaking at the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (MPHLG) 2024 Awards Ceremony held at Raia Hotel on Friday (Nov 29).

At the event, the Ministry unveiled three significant documents to guide future efforts and planning.

The first document, the MPHLG Strategic Plan 2024–2028, serves as a comprehensive roadmap for enhancing operational efficiency, sustainability, and community well-being.

The second document, the Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Guidelines, provides updated standards to ensure excellence in small-scale projects valued at RM2 million or below.

The third document, the LA Serve Guidelines, offers a framework to improve service delivery and governance at the local level.

These documents, Dr Sim said, are crucial to ensuring Sarawak’s progress towards its ambitious 2030 vision.
