KUCHING, Oct 31: AirBorneo is expanding its regional reach beyond Malaysia with a new direct Kuching-Jakarta service, as the airline opens ticket sales today for the route set to take off on November 13.

In a statement today, AirBorneo said the new service forms part of its Northern Winter 2026/27 schedule, which runs from October 25, 2026 to March 27, 2027, further strengthening air connectivity between Sarawak and key regional destinations.

The direct flights to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) will operate three times weekly on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, with all-in one-way fares starting from RM399 for Economy Class and RM888 for Business Class.

The inaugural flight, MY 396, will depart Kuching at 3.10pm, while the return flight, MY 397, will leave Jakarta at 4.55pm local time.

AirBorneo chief executive officer Megat Ardian Aminuddin described the new route as a key milestone in the airline’s regional expansion across ASEAN.

“A direct link to Indonesia’s commercial capital makes it easier for business leaders, investors and official delegations to travel between our two markets.

“It also offers patients and families a more comfortable journey to specialist care in Sarawak,” he said.

For leisure travellers, he added, the route would offer opportunities for Indonesian visitors to explore Borneo’s rainforests, culture and festivals, while giving travellers from Borneo easier access to Jakarta.

Meanwhile, AirBorneo has adjusted its Kuching-Singapore service to four times weekly from October 23, operating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Under the winter schedule, flight MY 0385 departs Kuching at 7.35pm, while the return flight MY 0386 leaves Changi Airport at 10pm.

The twice-daily Kuching-Kuala Lumpur trunk service will continue as scheduled, with afternoon flight MY 5004 departing Kuala Lumpur at 3.40pm under the revised winter timings.

Passengers with existing bookings on affected Singapore services have been contacted directly and offered rebooking options.

AirBorneo said tickets are available exclusively through its official channels to ensure fare transparency and protect passengers from unauthorised third-party markups.

Tickets can be book through the airline’s mobile app, official website or airport ticketing offices. — DayakDaily
