KUCHING, May 21: Yang Dipertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has called for Malaysians to make unity the main asset for the country’s prosperity.
His Majesty said as Malaysians, everyone should play their role in reducing the differences in race and religion.
“As the English saying goes, ‘charity begins at home’, and it is reasonable for me to say here that ‘unity begins at home’,” he said when officiating at the National Unity Week celebration at Kuching Waterfront today.
National Unity Week is a week-long celebration held throughout the country from May 20-28.
Also present were Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Dato Fadillah Yusof, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, National Unity Minister Dato Aaron Ago Dagang, and other distinguished guests. — DayakDaily
