Afternoon thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds forecast for Kuching, Samarahan (Sept 17)

KUCHING, Sept 17: A thunderstorm warning has been issued for the southern region of Sarawak this afternoon by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected to affect Kuching and Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya) according to a MetMalaysia notice issued at 2.10pm today which is valid until 5pm.

“A thunderstorm warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity of more than 20 mm/hour that is close or expected to last for more than an hour,” the notice read. — DayakDaily
