KUCHING, Oct 16: A thunderstorm warning has been issued for Kuching, Samarahan, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit and Bintulu by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

The advisory, issued at 2.55pm and valid until 5pm today, emphasises the likelihood of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds in these six divisions.

A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per issuance,” the department said. — DayakDaily
