Adventurous anteater rescued from tree

NIAH, Nov 18: An anteater was rescued from a tree by firefighters here this morning.

According to the Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) station in a statement, they were notified about the animal’s predicament via a call from a concerned member of the public at 6.35am.


Arriving at the location in an oil palm plantation at Jalan Simpang Ngu, they found the anteater in the tree as described.

It took the firefighters about 10 minutes to catch the anteater before securing it in a bag and bringing it back to their station.

An officer from Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) later came to the station to pick up the anteater. — DayakDaily
