MIRI, April 12: Luak Bay Esplanade will be another promising place of interest in Miri city once its latest upgrades are completed.

Miri City Council (MCC) mayor Adam Yii expressed enthusiasm during the site inspection where he officiated at the ceremony to mark the completion of the Phase 2 development programme for the upgrading of Luak Bay Esplanade today.

Following the completion of the current upgrades, there will be additional six main facilities set in place at this seafront esplanade, notably a new footpath, 12 units of benches, six units of gazebo, six units of BBQ stand, a 56m-long reflexology pebble walk, and a children’s playground.

Yii took the opportunity to appeal to the general pubic to take good care of these facilities while using them.

In light of the comprehensive facilities provided, he said MCC will look into the possibility of providing additional public safety features complete with digital technology under its Miri Smart City Programme, subject to funds being made available.

Under the jurisdiction of MCC, there are a few public parks which are popular sites for parkgoers such as Miri City Fan Urban Park and Miri Bulatan Park.

“With this latest completion of upgrading works at Luak Bay Esplanade and in view of its favourable setting along the seafront, complete with unique attractions in the park, it is anticipated that the esplanade will be well patronised by  Mirians, especially residents from the nearby housing estates and not forgetting visitors from Brunei during weekends,” said Yii.

On the other hand, with the increasing patronage, he said MCC would request its relevant committees, as a pre-emptive measure, to look into the possible issues in relation to the subsequent maintenance and upkeep of this park.

He said the upgrading of Luak Bay Esplanade was carried out through funds provided under Projek Rakyat Sarawak. — DayakDaily
