KUCHING, March 10: Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii Siew Sang has tested positive for Covid-19 following his polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test yesterday (March 9).
He said he was just informed of his positive result today, and given the three to five days’ incubation period, he might have contracted the virus sometime between March 3 to 4.
“And in the interim period, I attended both official and private functions, breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
“Therefore, it would be wise for anyone coming into close contact with me to do their RTK tests and if needed the PCR test.
“I wish to apologise for the inconveniences caused,” he wrote on social media just hours ago today.
In terms of symptoms, Yii said he is only experiencing a slight cough, but no headaches or muscle aches while his appetite remains normal.
He also said he is awaiting instructions for self-quarantine through the MySejahtera app.
“In the meantime, I have to apologise for cancelling or postponing all the events and appointments until I am released from the quaratine requirements.
“With the surge of Covid-19 or Omicron cases, please take care and stay safe,” said Yii, who is also Miri City Council (MCC) chairman. — DayakDaily
