KUCHING, Jan 11:  Active case detection (ACD) involving multi-agencies is now being conducted at the Milan Square, Kuching.

According to Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, there will be more of such activities to be conducted in view of the surge of fourth Covid-19 wave in Sarawak.


Urging the public to go for Covid-19 PCR tests,  Dr Sim stated in a social media posting that the testing is free.

“ACD with multi-agencies team is one for the community surveillance in those areas with high number of positive cases.

“It is free but the public’s cooperation to come forward to be PCR tested is crucial for the success of the the programme.

“It is for the safely of your family, your colleagues, your friends and Sarawak,” said Dr Sim who is Batu Kawah assemblyman.

He also called on the public not to panic but to focus on “seriously playing your role and do your part”.

Members of the public waiting patiently fo be tested for Covid-19.

Sibu and Kuching have been categorised as Covid-19 red zones after reporting more than 40 cases each over the past fortnight.

As of yesterday (Jan 10, 2021), Sibu reported 44 local transmission cases in the past 14 days while Kuching reported 41 local transmission cases over the same period.

Selangau and Sebauh districts have also been declared Covid-19 yellow zones as each district reported one new case of the coronavirus.

Samarahan, Miri, Sibu, Bintulu, Meradong, Bukit Mabong and Sri Aman remained as yellow zones as there were a total of 20 local transmission cases reported in the past 14 days.

There are now five active clusters of Covid-19 in Sarawak, namely the Pasai Cluster in Sibu, Keranji Tabuan Cluster and Stutong Cluster in Kuching, Bah Sayap Cluster in Miri and Mador Cluster in Meradong. — DayakDaily
