KUCHING, Dec 9: Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is the best man for the job, said Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

“Over the past three years, Abang Jo and his Cabinet’s exemplary leadership have put the interests of Sarawak and Sarawakians at the forefront. While we grapple with the federal government over state revenues, Sarawak often has to stand alone in ensuring our needs are met.

“We have no one better for the job than Abang Jo as a leader of Sarawak because he knows to also look outside the country for bilateral economic and cultural exchanges as part of our overall development plan.

“This is part of the reason why Sarawak’s economy is projected to grow at 5.5 to 6 per cent this year, compared to the national GDP forecast of 4.8 per cent,” said Tiong in a statement on Abang Johari’s 3rd anniversary as Chief Minister.

The Bintulu MP also highlighted that, over the past several years, Sarawak has continued to quickly develop its physical, civil and technological infrastructure including more schools, airports, and roads including water supply and land accessibility to rural areas.

“All these projects are implemented to give our people the help they need to shine and soar for this century,” he said.

Tiong reiterated that under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, the focus has been on empowering all the ethnic communities that make up Sarawak.

“And we all can grow and contribute together.

“Sarawak is politically stable, its finances managed responsibly and continues to attract both domestic and foreign investors. Our budget surplus is well propped up by our broad state revenues for the past several years, a far cry from any risk of bankruptcy as wrongly alleged by certain quarters,” added Tiong. —DayakDaily
