Abdul Yakub retains Balingian with 2,904 majority

KUCHING, Dec 18: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) candidate for N58 Balingian Abdul Yakub Arbi successfully defended his seat in the 12th Sarawak Election with a majority of 2,904 votes, according to information from the Election Commission (EC).

He polled 4,050 votes against Yusuf Abdul Rahman from Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) who received 1,146 votes and Abdul Jalil Bujang from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) who secured 498 votes.

There were a total of 8,704 registered voters in the constituency.


In the last Sarawak Election in 2016, Abdul Yakub who contested for the first time won the Balingian seat by a majority of 2,964 votes.

He garnered 4,208 votes against Nurzaiti Hamdan from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) who secured 1,244 votes. — DayakDaily
