KUCHING, May 31: The organising committee of “827 Sarawak-China Friendship Run” has paid a courtesy visit to Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah recently to extend an invitation to the latter to grace the opening ceremony of “827 Sarawak-China Friendship Run” as the guest of honour on August 27, 2023 at Malaysia-China Friendship Park here.
According to a press release by the Sarawak-China Friendship Association, the courtesy visit was led by organising chairman Datuk Wee Kok Hui and Kho Swee Aik, who represented the Kuching Chung Hua Middle School Alumni Association and the Sarawak-China Friendship Association (SCFA) respectively.
Also present in the meeting were working chairman Richard Yu Young Hui, vice working chairman Prof Dr Wang Yin Chai, and committee member Pohthong Linggang.
The event is being held in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Malaysia-China comprehensive strategic partnership this year, as well as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year, with the goal of promoting healthy lifestyles among the community and fostering brotherhood between Malaysia and China, particularly between the people of Sarawak and China.
Run participants taking the 3km or 5km route will receive a 2-in-1 medal with a magnet design. The front of the medal features a Peking Opera Wushu Panda design, and can be removed to be used as a decorative magnet.
“827 Sarawak-China Friendship Run” is open for all Malaysian and China citizens.
“Early Bird” registration is now open, offering discounted rates for both 3km and 5km routes.
For the 3km route, the offer price is RM34 (original price is RM39); and for the 5km route, the offer price is RM39 (original price is RM49). Those who register successfully will be able to claim a running T-shirt.
The offer ends on June 18 or tickets selling out, whichever comes first.
