LUNDU, Sept 23: The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development will launch an investigation to identify the cause of the unsatisfactory results obtained by Sarawak’s sports teams in the 20th Malaysia Games (Sukma).

It’s Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said there is a possibility that some athletes may be dropped due to their lack of contribution to the development of sports.

“After the end of this Sukma games, we will carry out a postmortem and reorganise everything, including dropping some of them from the association because some of them have been in it for too long but remain at the same level (of performance).

“Whenever they are asked (about their performance), the answer given was all good but when the time came, we realised the results are not what was promised,” he said.

Abdul Karim said this during a press conference held after officiating at the Batang Kayan Festival 2022 in Lundu today.

Meanwhile, he also conveyed his compliments to the Sarawak contingent for their overall achievements in the Sukma games.

He added that so far the athletes are performing well, although Sarawak had aimed to be become the overall champion of the games. — DayakDaily
