KUCHING, March 10: Minister of Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah is ecstatic that Batang Sadong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri has been appointed as the federal Tourism, Arts and Culture minister.
The new cabinet line-up was recently announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“Yes, I am definitely very happy that Nancy is the Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister. We have worked together (although different portfolio before), I believe we can work together to bring Sarawak and Malaysia tourism to greater heights,” he said at the Borneo Balloon Fiesta 2020 press conference here today.
Describing Nancy as a tough iron lady, Abdul Karim said they first worked together when she became one of his political secretaries and later when she contested in the general election, won it and was appointed as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
“Now she is holding the same portfolio as I am for Sarawak. That is why I strongly believe we can work very well together. I can tell you, Nancy is the right person for this portfolio and she is able to do it,” Abdul Karim added. — DayakDaily
