KUCHING, Sept 20: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Vice President Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has reminded Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chong Chieng Jen that DAP and PAS were once bedfellows.
Abdul Karim said not only Chong seemed to be forgotten about the fact but Chong’s statement reflected the latter’s shallow outlook of politics.
“YB Chong seems to have short memory.
“Condemning Hadi’s (PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang) visit to Sarawak and his courtesy call on the chief minister (Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg) as discussing ‘cooperation’ between PAS and PBB and an unholy alliance between the two parties reflects his shallow outlook of politic.
“Chong must have forgotten that at one time, he was the one that welcomed PAS into Sarawak and they were ‘bedpartners’ in a coalition called Pakatan Rakyat,” said Abdul Karim in a statement today.
Abdul Karim who is Tourism, Arts and Culture as well as Youth and Sports Minister told Chong who is Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister that a mere visit would not constitute an alliance, after DAP broke its relation with PAS.
“Now they have gone separate ways and even a courtesy call by PAS president on the chief minister is seen by him (Chong who is also Sarawak DAP chairman) as a discussion to forge an alliance.
“How short memory Chong has (become) since he sits on the comfort chair of the Deputy Minister in Kuala Lumpur,” said Abdul Karim.
Abdul Karim said Awang Hadi and his entourage came openly to Sarawak to celebrate Malaysia Day which was held in Kuching, unlike DAP leaders who preferred to sneak into and snoop around Sarawak to influence Sarawakians to change Sarawak government.
“Just within one year of winning the federal government, Chong has shown his true self. He is neither a fighter for the State nor a fighter for the people of Sarawak,” said Abdul Karim.
Abdul Karim was responding to Chong’s statement yesterday which alleged that PBB had formed an unholy alliance with PAS-Umno.
Chong said such alliance was confirmed as proved by the visit of Awang Hadi to Abang Johari on Sept 17. — DayakDaily
