KUCHING, April 18: The Sarawak government’s efforts to develop and produce hydrogen gas as a new energy source have gained global recognition, said Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“Now, other countries recognise Sarawak’s efforts and invite me to share my experiences while exploring knowledge sharing opportunities with foreign countries.

“Next week, I will be giving a speech in Singapore and in early May, I will be speaking in Rotterdam in the Netherlands on the new form of economy that is the goal of Sarawak and also the rest of the world,” he said during the State-level Nuzul al-Quran ceremony in Sibu, tonight.

Abang Johari noted that the Sarawak government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) saw global efforts to reduce global warming as an opportunity that did not exist before.

He said the world race was born from an economy based on low carbon fuels, such as electricity generated from hydropower and the usage of fuels that do not emit smoke (zero carbon).

“I’m sure that Sarawak will be left behind if we don’t take steps now. However, Sarawak took the first step in 2017 when I took over from the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem,” he added. — DayakDaily
