KUCHING, Sept 15: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has called on the younger generation to rise to the occasion with an indomitable spirit and unyielding determination to steer Malaysia forward into a new future full of vitality.

This is his message for Malaysians, especially Sarawakians, as Malaysia prepares to mark the nation’s 58th anniversary tomorrow (Sept 16).

Abang Johari emphasised that the youth of the country must keep their spirits high and continue to be committed in developing the country in both favourable and unfavourable circumstances in this new post-pandemic era, as Malaysia rebuilds herself amidst being hit hard and burdened by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With new ideas from the younger generation, we will continue to spearhead the development of our country,” he said in his brief message broadcast by RTM today.

Sept 16, he pointed out, is a significant date where the Federation of Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak came together to establish an independent and sovereign country called Malaysia.

“Since then, Malaysia has grown and developed rapidly.

“Being a multi-racial and multi-religious country where people respect one another, this is the foundation of our nation’s unity which must be nurtured and passed down (from one generation to another),” he added.

Abang Johari wishes all a Happy 58th Malaysia Day and reiterated his call for all to come together in helping to raise the country to greater heights. — DayakDaily
