KUCHING, May 10: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is keeping his lips sealed about the state government’s position concerning Pakatan Harapan (PH) until the federal government has been formed.
“No comment till it’s (government) formed,” he told reporters as he was rushing to his waiting car at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here this morning.
Abang Johari was scheduled to talk at a press conference earlier but the function was cancelled. According to his press secretary, the reason was because the new federal government had not been formed yet.
Abang Johari was also asked why Sarawak announced the GE14 holiday for next week and not today.
He said it was up to the state government as it still has its autonomy.
Barisan Nasional (BN) suffered its biggest defeat in the 14th general elections yesterday as the PH coalition comprising Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) claimed they had enough seats to form the federal government.
According to official results announced by the Election Commission earlier today, candidates contesting under the PKR and DAP secured logo secured a total of 113 seats while BN secured 79. There are 222 parlimentary seats in total. — DayakDaily
