KUCHING, June 15: A “big project” is being worked out for residents of Kampung No 3 to Kampung No 6 in Satok here.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who gave this teaser announcement last night (June 14), said once the project is up and running, it would greatly beautify the villages and surrounding areas as well as enhance the Malay heritage of Satok.

“I don’t want to announce yet because it is still in the planning stage. Once it (planning) is done, then I will announce,” he said to hundreds of villagers during a Hari Raya gathering at the Darul Hana Patingan Mosque here.

In another announcement, Abang Johari also revealed that with the expansion project for the Darul Hana Patingan Mosque on the pipeline, those interested to donate could do so through Sarawak Pay.

The initial phase of the expansion project would need at least RM3 million, and the mosque board members had requested the state government for help.

“This mosque is the symbol of this Kampung No 6. We will develop, as long as there is unity among the people, which I am confident with.

“Even the Prime Minister (Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad) told me when we met that, ‘Sarawak has got a lot of money,’ and I replied, ‘It’s not enough, we are a very big state.’

“But we will find more ways to generate income. As long as we administer the state properly and sincerely and the people maintain unity and harmony,” said Abang Johari. — DayakDaily
