KUCHING, April 8: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is confident that Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah will be able to solve the statelessness issue in Sarawak.

He said the Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister has always been concerned with the situation and wellbeing of the people.

“Now, she is very busy handling matters regarding people with no documentation. Insya-Allah, she will be able to solve this issue for our people declared as stateless and Insya-Allah this can be realised,” he said when officiating at the Sumbangsih Raya 2022 presentation ceremony held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

Abang Johari further said that as Sarawak entered the endemic phase effective April 1, this signifies that the Muslim community would be able to hold open houses during the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration this year.

“This year, we will indeed allow open houses, but the number of guests must be in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he added.

Sumbangsih is an annual affair for the Women and Family Department come the Hari Raya Aidilfitri season. This year, it has 11,500 boxes compared to 10,050 last year, which will be distributed to 10 agencies.

They are the army, police, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Prisons Department (JPM), Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM), Malaysian Royal Customs Department (JKDRM), Road Transport Department (JPJ), Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), and People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela).

In addition to Fatimah, also present at the programme were Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian and Deputy State Secretary (Socio-Economic Transformation) Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki. — DayakDaily
