KUCHING, Mar 7: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg backed the Public Works Department (JKR) in adopting digital services to ensure better projects management.
The implementation of the department’s digital transformation, which is in line with the Sarawak government vision towards a digital economy, would greatly benefit JKR work structure, he said.
“Through digital transformation and by utilising ‘big data’, it will help JKR to work more efficiently and effectively. JKR will also be able to utilise the drone to collect their data from the field and it can be reused for other project planning and implementation,” he said at JKR 138th anniversary dinner here, yesterday.
Abang Johari also noted that with the launching of the department’s app called JKR DasH, it would help to provide a better feedback for the state government to monitor projects that are being implemented throughout Sarawak.
“Through this, it would enable I, and (deputy chief minister) Tan Sri Dr James Masing to communicate with the JKR side,” he said, in reference to Masing, who is also Infrastructure and Ports Development Minister. — DayakDaily
