KUCHING, Nov 30: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg assures Sarawakians that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is fair in administering the State.

He said when given the power, a leader must shoulder the responsibility to be fair to everyone that he leads regardless of religion, race, culture and background.

“I am fair to everyone as a Chief Minister because I will be questioned (in the afterlife). Therefore, we also help our non-Muslim community by establishing the Unit For Other Religions (Unifor).

“Apart from building our mosques and surau, we also help the non-Muslims by building their houses of worship in accordance to the Constitution of Medina,” he said.

He said this when speaking at the Seminar on Leadership Integrity for Mosques and Surau for Sri Aman Division broadcast live by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) via YouTube today.

Abang Johari who is also the GPS chairman said that when there is balance in assisting both the Muslims and the non-Muslims, society will live in peace.

“That is what we are enjoying in Sarawak now. And we assure the non-Muslims that we are fair because Islam also teaches us not to take the rights of others,” he added.

He also called on the committee members of houses of worship to carry out their duties with integrity and not be tempted by lust and greed. – DayakDaily
