KUCHING, March 23: A 25 per cent discount on annual assessment rates above RM400 will be given to residential, commercial, industrial and special purpose holdings for the year 2020.
This measure will benefit more than 185,000 premises.
“This will ease the burden of the rakyat and business owners and cost the Sarawak government RM74.58 million in 2020,” announced Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at a press conference to unveil the Sayangku Sarawak Covid-19 Financial Package today.
Apart from the decrease in assessment rates, the Sarawak government is also giving 30 per cent discount for land rent payments across all land uses for the year 2020.
“These measures will benefit 52,403 commercial, industrial, residential, large scale plantations and other public facilities. This will ease the burden of the rakyat and will cost the Sarawak government RM11.84 million,” said Abang Johari.
He also announced a one-off deferment for land premiums for the year 2020 which will benefit 1,721 stakeholders across Sarawak, including agricultural, residential, commercial and industrial stakeholders as well as private and public institutions.
The above three measures are among the 16 measures which the Sarawak government is taking to mitigate financial stress caused by Covid-19 and the global economic slowdown. — DayakDaily
