KUCHING, May 31: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg urges government departments in the state to not only carry out corporate social responsibility (CSR) work during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri season but also during other festive seasons in Sarawak.

He said in Sarawak, the people not only celebrate Ramadhan and Hari Raya, but also Gawai Dayak, Chinese New Year and Christmas as the main festive seasons.

“Maybe we can cooperate or collaborate in doing good for society, between the state government and Customs Department Senior Officers Association of Malaysia (Perkasa),” he said during the state Customs Department CSR programme with orphans from his Satok state constituency here yesterday evening.

Organised by Perkasa, the Customs Department treated 70 orphans to a breaking-of-fast dinner at Dormani Hotel here as well as to Gawai-Raya goodies.

Abang Johari recorded his utmost appreciation to the Customs Department for their CSR efforts, particularly Perkasa.

He said the spirit of sharing and giving showed by the Customs Department reflects the good values as envisaged by Islam, particularly for needy folks in light of this festive season.

Also present during the breaking-of-fast was state Customs Department Director Datuk Sharifah Halimah Tuanku Taha. — DayakDaily
