KUCHING, May 5: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will make an announcement on post Covid-19 exit economic plan tomorrow at 12 noon.
The economic blueprint known as “Post Covid-19 Exit Economic Strategy Up to 2030” will be announced at a press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.
According to a reliable source, Abang Johari will call for a meeting in the morning with all stakeholders before making the announcement.
“It will be a very frank discussion among stakeholders on how Sarawak can slowly lift the Movement Control Order (MCO) without compromising public health or succumbing to the side effects of opening up of businesses,” said the source.
Additionally, Abang Johari is expected to explain how best Sarawak can cushion the economic devastation brought about by the deadly Covid-19 pandemic which according to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muyhiddin Yassin has since caused Malaysia an alarming loss of RM2.4 billion daily.
Abang Johari will also unveiled the financial constraint faced by the Sarawak government which has started to take its toll on Sarawak since the beginning of MCO, a step taken to curb the spread of coronavirus, but at the expense of Sarawak’s economic growth.
“So all eyes will be focused on what the Chief Minister will announce tomorrow as it will pave the way for Sarawak to venture into a new journey of unchartered waters,” added the source. — DayakDaily
