KUCHING, Feb 21: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg believes Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy) is not done growing and evolving.

Speaking during the Sarawak Energy Berhad Centenary Townhall today, Abang Johari said as the utility company continues to serve Sarawak and the region at large, there will be even more opportunities for Sarawak Energy to enhance itself.

“I see many opportunities to leverage existing renewable energy facilities and resources to bolster the local economy further. For instance, lake tourism,” he said.

Abang Johari added as the primary energy provider in Sarawak and Malaysia’s largest renewable energy developer, Sarawak Energy has and continues to play a key role in driving major beneficial transformations in the State.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari also applauded the Company for its proactive efforts in taking the lead to implement many major initiatives in line with the government’s agenda such as the digitalisation journey.

“I look forward to the many exciting initiatives in the pipeline and would like to thank the many generations of Sarawak Energy’s staff members for your contributions to Sarawak and its people.

“Once again, congratulations for reaching 100 years of powering Sarawak and I wish you another century of success,” he added. — DayakDaily
