KUCHING, Feb 20: The new Bumiputera Commercial Hub in Lopeng, Miri will serve as a training ground for Bumiputera entrepreneurs to learn how to conduct and manage business, says Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said the State government is always supportive of independent entrepreneurs who have their own initiatives and intend to enhance their participation in the State’s economic growth.

“That is why I have agreed to Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS)’s idea to set up a commercial hub (in Lopeng, Miri) because this area will grow and become a development catalyst in Miri city.

“This piece of land (for the commercial hub) will become a space for DUBS members to develop themselves and become a training ground in terms of managing business in the new era,” he said.

He said this when officiating at DUBS Miri’s 14th General Meeting for the 2021-2024 Term at Eastwood Golf and Country Club in Miri today.

The State government has approved the allocation of five acres of land at Lot 4069, Lopeng, Miri for the setting up of the mixed commercial hub with the land title already issued on Nov 26, 2021.

For the record, the concept drawing of a low rise commercial building has been finalised and the construction will begin pending the necessary funding.

Amongst those present were Transport Minister-cum-Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Miri City Council mayor-cum-Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii Siew Sang, Bekenu assemblywoman Datuk Rosey Yunus, DUBS president Datu Abang Helmi Ikhwan and DUBS Miri chairman Abdul Samad Mohd Ali. — DayakDaily
