KUCHING, March 21: As expected, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is not ready to let the cat out of the bag just yet, much to the chagrin of reporters who prodded him today to name the “termites” he was referring to yesterday.

He brushed off the reporters’ questions with a classic “I don’t know” reply. He said it was just a figure of speech when he uttered it at an event in Marudi.

“I don’t know. I just mentioned termites because termites eat (wood) from the inside,” he told reporters here.

Asked whether he was referring to Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), Abang Johari replied, complete with his signature smile, “I can’t. I don’t know, because I just mentioned.

“I don’t know. I didn’t refer to anybody.”

During the Marudi Waterfront project launching ceremony yesterday, he said he would not want “termites” within the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

He said he would give priority to the existing pack that comprises Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).

“We don’t want to have termites in GPS. If you have termites, the whole house will fall down. The moment the house falls, that means the end of us. I give priority to GPS. This is for our future.

“We cannot say, ‘Oh, I support Abang Jo’ but, at the same time, you try to be funny (‘berlaga-laga dalam’) in GPS. We cannot tolerate that. The struggle must be (based) on principle,” he had said in Marudi yesterday. — DayakDaily
