KUCHING, May 5: Sarawak will play its role in strengthening Malaysia, says Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

According to Abang Johari, both Sarawak and Malaysia need to go hand-in-hand in empowering and prospering their respective developments.

ā€œWe have no intention to fight with the federal government, but our intention is to strengthen the country.

ā€œFor that purpose, we must strengthen our State to help others,ā€said Abang Johari in his speech at ‘Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri N26 Gedong’ at a local hotel, here today.

Abang Johari, who is also the Gedong assemblyman, said in order to achieved that goal, Sarawak must have strong support from the people in the coming 15th General Election (PRU15).

He said this will ensure that Sarawakian voices are heard in the Dewan Rakyat.

ā€œIf possible, we would want to win all 31 seats in the coming PRU15 and ensure that Sarawak’s rights are protected.

ā€œWe do not want more and we do not want any less (than our rights) as enshrined in the Malaysian Constitution, the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63), as well as the Report of the Intergovernmental Committee (IGC),ā€ he added. ā€” DayakDaily
