Abang Abdul Karim re-elected as Sarawak Business Federation president for 2022-2024 term

KUCHING, Nov 16: Dato Sri Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg has been re-elected as the president of Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) for the 2022-2024 term.

SBF held its 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) here on Monday (Nov 14) to elect office bearers and council members.

Datuk Philip Ting Ding Ing was elected as deputy president, while nine others were elected as vice-presidents.


They are Datu Tan Jit Kee, Dato Leonard Martin Uning, Dato Abang Helmi Ikhwan, Datuk Mutang Tagal, Renco Yong King Hwa, Gracie Geikie, Dato Sri Ir Peter Lu Nguang Siong, Augustine Wong Chung Ho, and Foo Shau Lung.

Jonathan Chai Voon Tok was elected as secretary-general, Angie Kueh Li Ping as deputy secretary-general, Eric Kiu Kwong Seng as treasurer, Anne Kung Soo Ching as deputy treasurer, and Albert Tang Yew Liong as legal advisor.

The council members include Kapitan So Teck Kee, Tek Siew Liong, Hemang Yu Abit, Lohong Tajang, Eddit Oon Hoon Wah, Ferdinand Wong, Zoey Ting Giek, Lu Jye Ying, Alvia Sia Chung Hu, Chew Heo Lee, Sean Liak Jin Seng, Peter Chai Mui Seng, Jordan Ong Chung Siang, and Sean Hii Ru Hiik.

After the election, SBF inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Australia Malaysia Business Chamber of Commerce, Western Australia (AMBCWA) to foster collaborations aimed at achieving new heights in domestic direct investments in Sarawak.

AMBCWA was represented by its vice-president Bernard Chia, according to a statement by SBF today.

SBF, first launched on Sept 9, 2016, is an umbrella body which represents key organisations and industries in Sarawak.

It now has 20 component members of various chambers, trade guilds and business organisations across Sarawak and has charted a number of significant milestones and various ongoing projects such as the SBF Business Recovery Assistance Fund and the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 Action Committee to mirror the PCDS initiatives by the government. — DayakDaily
