A year of service: 60 pct of Dr Yii’s RM4.2 mln allocation goes to education in Bandar Kuching

KUCHING, Jan 26: Bandar Kuching Member of Parliament Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen channelled RM4.2 million to education, community, healthcare, youth and welfare programmes in his parliamentary constituency last year.

Of the total allocation, RM2,514,890 (60 per cent) was spent on education, RM675,000 (16 per cent) on community initiatives, RM378,000 (9 per cent) on healthcare, RM336,000 (8 per cent) on youth and sports, and RM294,000 (7 per cent) on welfare.

“The report card also records activities organised by the Kuching City Service Centre, including the SPM Power Preparation Workshop, STPM and SPM Reward Programmes, the Tertiary Education Assistance Fund, and the Love Kuching Pop-Up Market 2.0,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Yii added that during his tenure as Political Secretary to the Minister of Human Resources, he worked on the implementation of the Employees’ Social Security (Amendment) Act 2025, which introduced the 24-hour Protection Scheme and expanded social security coverage for workers nationwide.

“We never forget to thank the cooperation and strong support of our service team, which enabled the smooth execution of constituency programmes and services,” he said.
