KUCHING, July 31: In a sizzling celebration of international friendship and culinary excellence, chefs from Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, China are bringing one of China’s top noodle dishes, Zhenjiang Pot Over Noodle, to Kuching for the first time as part of the Kuching Festival Food Fair 2025.
From July 30 to Aug 1, the iconic noodles are being served at the Gastronomy Corner under Kuching South City Council’s (MBKS) ongoing initiative as a Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy.
The event highlights Kuching’s close ties with Zhenjiang, one of its Friendship Cities, and marks a unique cross-cultural exchange between the two cities through the universal language of food.
MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng paid a visit to the Zhenjiang stall yesterday (July 30) to sample the noodle himself.

According to a media statement, Zhenjiang Pot Over Noodle is ranked among the Top 10 Noodles in China. They are loved for their bold, savoury flavours, silky-smooth texture, and time-honoured cooking techniques.
The chefs, specially flown in from China, are serving the noodles fresh and authentic, offering festivalgoers a rare chance to experience this culinary treasure without leaving Sarawak.
“MBKS is proud to host this international gastronomic exchange, bringing unique culinary experiences to the heart of Kuching and celebrating the city’s role in the global network of creative gastronomy,” Wee said.
Festival visitors are encouraged not to miss this limited-time opportunity to taste one of China’s best noodle dishes right here in Kuching.
“Come and enjoy the taste of Zhenjiang at the Kuching Festival Gastronomy Corner,” he added. — DayakDaily
