KUCHING, June 27: Colour Rush, a public awareness charity run to help kids outrun cancer, is returning for the 7th edition this September in conjunction with the Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Organised by Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS), the run will kick off at Sibu’s Town Square on Sept 1, Kuching’s Saradise on Sept 15 and Miri’s Boulevard Shopping Mall (Carpark) on Sept 22.

SCCS said in a media release today it hoped to attract 8,000 participants in total.

Through this run, SCCS aims to raise awareness of childhood cancer in Sarawak among youths as well as raise funds to support childhood cancer patients and their families.

It is also intended at encouraging the public to participate in a fun-filled event for a meaningful cause and encourage the younger generation to demonstrate more understanding and empathy towards children with cancer.

Through this effort, SCCS hopes to instil responsibility and compassion within the general public as part of their contribution towards nation building.

The run is open to all individuals, with a registration fee of RM48. It includes a run bib and coloured powder.

Runners who complete the 5km fun run will receive an exclusive burnished-gold medal.

An early bird registration fee is being offered at only RM40, up til July 31, while from Aug 1 to 23, the normal registration fee will apply (RM48).

Registration fee includes two packets of coloured powder, and run bib (may include vouchers depending on availability). Event t-shirt is not included and may be purchased separately.

The run bib is for the redemption of the run medal, upon completion of the run, and also used for lucky draw redemption.

The launch of the event registration will be held online, on June 29 at 2pm. A special offer will be available, where the first 100 registrations in Sibu, Kuching and Miri each will be entitled to purchase the registration at RM30, instead of the early bird price of RM40.
