KUCHING, Mar 18: Commuters crossing Sungai Krian can now travel in minutes instead of waiting for the ferry, following the completion of the Sungai Krian Bridge, which is already being used by some road users.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas officiated the pre-launch of the Sungai Krian Bridge today, a project under the Sarawak Coastal Road development.
The bridge, built at a cost of RM112.5 million, spans 1.227km, including a 690m main structure with 12 spans.
It is a two-lane bridge measuring eight metres wide, with 6.5m-wide approach roads on both sides to improve safety and traffic flow.
The bridge provides a direct link between Batang Saribas Bridge No.2 and the Roban Interchange of the Pan Borneo Highway, strengthening connectivity in Betong.
The project is the 10th bridge completed under the Sarawak Coastal Road initiative.
Once fully opened, the bridge will eliminate the need for ferry crossings entirely, significantly shortening travel time and improving connectivity for surrounding communities. — DayakDaily
