94 less fortunate children receive early Christmas presents from Malaysian AEON Foundation

KUCHING, Dec 11: A total of 94 children from underprivileged families received early Christmas presents in the form of a RM250 shopping spree each for them to go shopping at AEON Mall Kuching Central here.

The gifts were presented by Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF). The families of the children were also given RM150 cash aid and boxes filled with daily essential goods.

The Christmas gifts were presented to the recipients during the AEON Mesra Christmas 2023 event held at a leading hotel here on Saturday (Dec 9).

Sarawak’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan who was the guest-of-honour at the event, further commended three AEON Malls and three AEON Big Hypermarkets for contributing a total of RM60,000 for the programme.

“On behalf of the Sarawak government, I commend the MAF for its commitment in bringing joy and smiles to the faces of the children and families from Samariang, Sarawak.

“Your efforts are not only commendable but serve as an inspiration to us all,” he said in a statement today.

At the same time, Snowdan said a high degree of tolerance in the multiethnic Sarawak society is what has kept the community intact and harmonious all along, apart from mutual understanding and respect.

“We may be many but we choose to be one (united). It manifests our one heart, one mind and one voice,” he added.

Also present during the the event were Keiji Ono, the vice president of MAF and managing director of AEON Company Malaysia Bhd; Tsugutoshi Seko, deputy managing director of AEON Company (M) Bhd; and Dr Kasuma Satria Mat Jadi, secretary of MAF and chief human resources officer of AEON Company (M) Bhd. — DayakDaily
